On 17-19 May, EED travelled to Pristina for the second edition of the Engaged Democracy Convention, part of the work carried out by the European Fund for the Balkans and the Institute for Democratic Engagement Southeast Europe (IDESE) in their joint Engaged Democracy Initiative.
The conference, organised with the support of EED and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Dialogue Southeast Europe, gathered activists from all across the Western Balkans region, providing them with unvaluable opportunities to connect and work together for change.
Under the slogan ‘Engage, Inspire, Empower’ almost 100 activists, including many EED partners, gathered for three days to discuss issues linked to the environment, decent work, public space, media, and human rights. They also had the opportunity to enter their project in a competition funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, with the best proposal voted by their fellow activists.
The venue for the conference was former EED partner Termokiss, an abandoned heating plant converted into a vibrant community-run centre organising events to engage youth in Pristina.
