Ta voix, ton vote, ta victoire

Initiative summary:

Almost 5 million people have watched “Mantsayadch”, a music video and campaign calling citizens to register to vote. NGO Marocains Pluriels and private Hit Radio worked together with famous Moroccan pop and rap singers to compose the song, produce the video and inspire interest in elections.

They organised debates in universities and schools across Morocco, highlighting the value of voting and democratic rights. The impact of their campaign to date is encouraging: 250,000 new voters - mainly under 30 years of age - registered for their right. Thanks to the success of the campaign, Moroccan authorities extended the registration deadline, better equipped the local registration offices and set up an on-line form at www.listeselectorales.ma. They are launching a new video mobilizing people to actually go out and vote. In addition, they will use jingles, radio alert messages, web TV and more street activities to inspire Moroccans to participate in the elections. The support of EED for ‘Mantsayadch’ campaign was essential as no other institution had started their planning process for activities linked to 2015 election at that time.
