  • Start date: 1 February 2017
  • End date: 31 January 2018

Initiative summary:

Parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia in April 2017.

These will be the first elections after the constitutional referendum in 2015 that approved reforms to become a parliamentary republic. These will also be the first conducted under the new Electoral Code, which introduced very complex voting procedures. Given the importance of the upcoming elections, the Union of Informed Citizens will carry out a 12-month public awareness raising campaign aiming to reach at least 500,000 Armenian citizens through numerous online and offline channels focusing on those who need the information most. By producing 16 information videos to be disseminated via radio, television and social media, the Union of Informed Citizens strives to inform the Armenian people about their rights and entitlements in interactions with law enforcement authorities and the importance of their vote. As a result, the initiative will boost the accountability of law enforcement bodies, reduce corruption, and allow citizens to act more independently during elections.
