Initiative summary:

MADA monitors, documents and raises awareness about all violations committed by both Israeli and Palestinian sides against media freedoms.

Violations of the rights to freedom of press, expression and information are regularly documented while self-censorship among Palestinian journalists is widely prevalent. In response, MADA’s overall objective is to promote and defend the right to freedom of expression and opinion in Palestine. Through workshops on self-censorship as well as digital rights, and public advocacy campaigns, MADA seeks strengthen protection and promotion of the media and freedom of journalists, and the development of the role of independent media as a key pillar of a democratic society. The initiative will benefit Palestinian media and journalists, while also having an impact on Palestinian authorities and political actors.
