Initiative summary:

With EED’s support, journalists Jeyan kader Gulsen and Zekiye Bacak Bakirhan, two dismissed female journalists, will establish their own documentary film production company focused on human rights issues. Their upcoming project is a documentary depicting the struggles of gay men in Turkey by telling the story of three ordinary Turkish men from conservative backgrounds who have been forced to hide their sexuality. Through their intimate portrayal of these stories, the filmmakers aim to counter rampant homophobia in Turkey by opening up a space for discussion on homophobia and fostering reflection and change in attitudes toward LGBT rights.
