Increasing citizen engagement at the local level is crucial in today’s political context in Ukraine, especially in the mid-sized towns of the country where the government’s control is combined with a high level of corruption.
In this context, Poltav’ska Platforma aims to identify the most important issues facing Poltava and its residents, increase level of citizen participation and reduce corruption cases in the public sector. The initiative will create a platform for people to coordinate activities, and get involved in decision-making and make positive changes in their community. The main activities within the framework of the initiative include holding workshops, seminars and round-tables to plan city initiatives, creation of a website for highlighting important city and regional events, setting up an online tool for work with electronic petitions and implementation of an oversight mechanism for public procurement, sale and leasing of state and communal property.
