  • Start date: 28 March 2017
  • End date: 28 November 2018

Initiative summary:

Many councils in Armenia operate closed sessions which undermines the transparency of the work of local government.

Understanding the relationship between state and society and stressing the need for transparent interaction between the two is still a key issue to help empower populations in Armenia. As a response, LogoS Human Rights Defence aims to increase the civic and political participation of residents in the Shirak region through training 75 young people on key topics related to democratisation as well as practical skills for taking part in civic and political discussions. As a result, the participants will develop essential knowledge and skills to take part in civic and political debates. In addition, a TV gameshow about local governance will be produced to challenge participants and other interested individuals to use their skills, ideas and knowledge. In parallel, the game will serve as an educational tool for a wider audience to understand the need and importance of democratic and participatory local governance.
