The 2015 constitutional referendum in Armenia demonstrated that in districts and polling stations where elections are observed by citizens, the elections results are generally more realistic and accurate.
Given the significance of the parliamentary elections - the first since Armenia decided to transition to a parliamentary system -the Independent Observer Public Alliance with EED support mobilised Armenian organisations and individual citizens to monitor electoral practices. The project built the capacity of 250 Armenian women and men in civic observation of elections, and deployed them as civic observers in the parliamentary election on 2 April 2017. In addition, following the elections, the Independent Observer Public Alliance brought observers together to jointly evaluate their work and identify a core group for further cooperation.
