Combatting Russian Disinformation in London

Following a Legatum Institute event on the above topic, EED Executive Director Jerzy Pomianowski answered a few specific questions on "Russian disinformation in the East".

How has Russian propaganda influenced Russian-speaking groups outside Russia, and why is this important for Europe and the rest of the world?

Russian speaking communities leaving in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and also in Armenia are an important part of these societies. The issue is that Moscow has been using the lack of free media to saturate these people with myths and unrealities.

How can the international community work together to find solutions?

Societies need to find the best way to communicate. In Ukraine, for example, media is increasingly bilingual. There is a line to be drawn between truth and lie. And this line needs to be defended with extreme determination.
