About EED Support

  1. EED works in a flexible way and therefore receives and assesses requests for support in an ongoing manner. Thus there is no deadline, and we are happy to receive your ideas at any time.
  2. The support provided by EED can vary in size and duration. However average grants normally range between €10,000 and €150,000.
  3. EED assists pro-democratic civil society organisations, movements and individual activists acting in favour of a pluralistic multiparty system regardless of their size or formal status.
  4. EED acknowledges the existing range of pro-democracy donors and seeks to act as a gap-filler. We therefore give priority to activities that would be difficult to fund through other existing channels. In doing so, we follow a demand-driven and needs-based approach.
  5. Since 2015 EED support for democracy actors moves beyond the EU Neighbourhood. Yet its scope is limited and our priority region remains the EU Neighbourhood: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Libya, Lebanon, Moldova, Morocco, the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria, Tunisia & Ukraine. In the future, and depending on available funding, EED will potentially also consider applications from other countries.
  6. EED provides both project and institutional funding. Institutional funding (support to cover the basic operational costs of an organisation) will normally only be given in fully justified cases and for a limited period of time.
  7. EED will treat your information as private and confidential. We will not provide your information to any other organisation, unless you specifically authorise us to do so.
  8. EED funding decisions are made by EED’s Executive Committee at their frequent meetings.

Please refer to the mission statement for further information about the support we provide.
